「会議でスマートに見せる100の方法」ということで翻訳も出ているそうで、実際その通りの内容だ。スマートという言葉は誤解を招くかもしれないが、「切れ者」くらいの感じ。

著者は笑かそうとして書いているんだと思うが、わたしが見た感じでは、会議における典型的なアメリカ人の振る舞いのコレクションというところで、そこまで笑えるわけではない。基本的にアメリカ人は芝居がかっているし、これくらい普通としか…。いわゆる「意識髙い系」の新人などが読めば、普通に役立つ感じがある。純粋にお笑いとして考えると、「仕事をサボろう」というよりは「上手くやって出世しよう」という軸で書かれているから、わたし的には気持ちが離れる。

While I understand the author trying to be funny, which she is, for me it is a collection of typical and stereotypical Americans' behaviors in meetings. Many Japanese hope to act like Americans, as elsewhere in the world, as we see in the theatrical TED presentations, so this book makes a great coursebook for them. I am serious.
