Lars Nielsen, Noreen Burlingame "A Simple Introduction to Data Science"

いわゆるビッグデータという概念に関して、それがビジネス的・ＩＴ的に何なのかの簡単な解説。ビジネス的には、ビッグデータの活用に関して昔からあるようなマーケティングの延長で解説している。ＩＴ的にはHadoopとかCassandraとかのキーコンポーネントを引き合いに出している。そして、一貫して「データサイエンス」という新ジャンルの勃興を予測している。短いので直ぐ読める。また、書籍の大半が業界のGuruたちの引用で構成されていて、好みにも寄るが、説得力がある。入門書なので具体的な話にはならないが、そもそも具体的な話は、現時点では書籍にまとめるほど完成していないのかもしれない。

A really simple and brief introduction. On business aspects and IT aspects. The business side is a little mundane but the IT side interested me enough to read more books on this topic. The authors predicts the rise of an academic field of "Data Science". I would like to be one of the earliest students.
